E3 Camp 2019 – Day 1

Day one of E3 Camp is in the books for 2019!  We had a great turnout.  19 students attended day one of camp and they all had a fantastic time.

We started the day with pizza from Pizza Man’s Pizza and then moved into some ice breaking games that allowed the students to get to know each other a little better.  Our students represent three school districts in our county: Union, Neshannock, and Laurel, so many of them have never met each other.  The students learned fun facts about each other during the games and got to snack on some M&Ms in the process.

Prevention Specialist Rachel Sauders gave the lesson for the day and spoke to the students about confidence and how important confidence is for leaders.  She gave them pointers on how to build your own confidence and not tear yourself down with negative self-talk, something that is even tough for adults to do sometimes.

The students had a little bit of free time and spent it in the gym playing cornhole and basketball.  They also had the opportunity to use the game room in Kauffman’s Korner and play ping-pong or pool.

During free time, part of the staff set up for the day’s final activity:  Painting!  The students followed along with a YouTube artist and painted fantastic pictures of dandelions and a skyline.  Many of the students discovered that it wasn’t as hard as they thought it might be to make a great painting, if they just listen and work for it.
