Tobacco Control Program The Lawrence County Drug and Alcohol Commission’s Tobacco Control Program strives to reduce the negative effects of tobacco on our community and, most importantly, our youth. Through collaboration with schools, police departments, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Lawrence County Cares, Jameson Health System, Family Health Council, Catholic Charities and other agencies, we implement the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) Best Practices and provide the following:

Adult/Adolescent smoking cessation classes
· On Applebee Pond puppet shows (Grades 1–3) · Educational programming · Tobacco merchant education · Enforcement/Tobacco Compliance Checks (sale of tobacco to youth) · Youth advocacy (BUSTED! Youth Movement) · Mini-grants sponsoring tobacco-free alternative activities and the BUSTED! Youth Movement
